This innovative content is designed to provide “virtual work experience” over the Internet. Applying different technologies and providing the fun of computer games, the students are given investigation and problem solving tasks enabling them to engage in real management and organisational activities. Students are asked to make working decisions, research and analyse information and solve business problems. Enjoy! V-learning is available now from http://www.swgfl.org.uk.
The South West Grid for Learning is a government funded scheme to electronically link 165 schools in nine South West Educational Authorities and to provide innovative materials for students.
Bob Wolfson, Wiltshire County Council’s Chief Education Officer, said: “The Enjoy! V-learning project is an excellent example of education and business working in partnership. The package is an exciting example of the government’s aim to provide secure, rapid access to high quality learning materials to schools and I am sure it will prove very popular with both students and teachers.”
Headteachers from each of the 165 schools across the South West have been invited to the launch at the Marriott Hotel, Swindon on Monday 2 July 2001, where they will be able to see the Enjoy! V-learning resource in action. The speakers at the event will be Bob Wolfson, Chris Bulmer (Human Resources Director, Whitbread Group PLC) and Anthony Elliot-Square (Managing Director, Third Dimension Limited). There will also be demonstrations by students from Devizes School who will show how they have been using the packages and the opportunity for visitors to try it out for themselves.
